Kansas Ironman 70.3 in the pros

Summary: Got too much dirty lake water into my stomach during the choppy swim. Kept throwing up all over myself and my bicycle during the bike. I was only able to drink a few sips of water, no sports drink or gels= no real hopes of a good result but I finished the bike anyway.

I was going to quit after the bike leg but since I started in the pro wave ahead of everyone else, when I got into t2 I was the only racer around at that time and people were cheering at me so I started the run as well and quit later...

Good thing was that my swim time was my fastest for a half ironman 27.44. It was a wetsuit swim. I had this guy the whole time swimming about 20 meters ahead of me and in the transition I saw it was Robbie Wade who is not a bad swimmer and I thought wow I guess I'm still in the race. For the first time in my life I also felt that my transitions were fast! (I actually trained that this week). Nowadays I am using socks for the run so that takes some time though.
The three time Ironman world champion Craig Alexander won the race.
